Braunton Countryside Centre Event
Join Future Flora expert Pete Yeo on this guided walk to Velator and the Braunton Great Field.
A circular walk of roughly two hours duration during which we’ll contemplate the biocultural footprint of horticulture in the heart of the North Devon Biosphere Reserve. Departing from the Countryside Centre and heading south as far as Velator we’ll pass local gardens, allotments and Braunton’s Great Field, and meet various ‘novel ecosystems’ and garden plants gone wild. We’ll also be looking forwards in time to speculate how the local landscape and its flora may change in the face of climate and ecological crises, and how we might best relate to these changes in support of ecological regeneration.
The walk is family friendly and suitable for older children. The walk will involve rough terrain so suitable footwear and outdoor clothing is recommended. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, places for this event will be limited. Click here to book
