The Northam Burrows Rangers and the North Devon Coast National Landscape have teamed up to organise a free green social prescribing event at Northam Burrows on Thursday 16th May between 10:00 and 13:00. It is an opportunity to :
- Explore how we can support local green social prescribing now and in the future.
- Develop our actions for future work.
- Understand barriers and how to overcome them.
- Learn about nature connection and the health and wellbeing benefits.
- Explore local community and individual needs to access green social prescribing.
- Network with colleagues and other organisations working within the local area.
We’d like to invite social prescribing link workers / community connectors and any allied healthcare professionals from North Devon and Torridge to attend this free event to learn about Northam Burrows and the North Devon Coast National Landscape. Come along and network together with like-minded organisations including ourselves, and those we are inviting.
We are working to set up a new green prescribing program in Torridge starting this summer! Using the knowledge, experience and enthusiasm of the National Landscape team and the Northam Burrows rangers we would like to offer a series of free 5-week half-day programs to individuals conquering mild and moderate mental and physical health conditions. We will provide engaging nature connection opportunities through learning, citizen science and conservation.
These programs will be available to referral, we are also keen to promote other regular nature connection volunteering opportunities we run and discuss opportunities for focused work with specific client groups.
Join us and feed into the development of new green prescribing activities in the area. We are keen to hear your ideas on how we can most effectively provide connection to nature to benefit mental and physical health. The event will include some training about nature connection and how we can reduce barriers to accessing nature.
There will be an option for a guided walk and some examples of nature-based activities on Northam Burrows.
Tea, coffee and cake will be provided!
