From the 23rd to 30th of October join us in celebrating Devon’s Dark Skies.

The nights may be drawing in but perhaps the tranquillity found the nightscape is something we should be embracing? Join published nature writer and illustrator Tiffany Francis-Baker as she helps us get comfortable with the dark or the Norman Lockyer observatory as their beginners astronomy session teaches us the delights of the cosmos. Maybe even learn to capture the beauty of the stars with our introductory session to astrophotography.

If you want to do more to protect the dark skies, our lighting survey will provide you with actions and inspiration to reduce local light pollution. But if you want to get really active this half-term,  our dark skies challenge will have you going on night walks and looking for craters on the moon, with great prizes to be won for completed challenges.

Exmoor National Park are also supporting Dark Skies week through over thirty activities within the National Park as part of their Dark Skies festival. To see the full list visit the National Park website.

Keep up to date with everything that’s happening on facebook and twitter. We’d love to see how you are spending the week so share what you’re getting up to, either messages or photos with #DevonDarkSkies
