Workshop: Bees glorious bees

Event Date: 20th August 2019, 13:30 – 15:30

Event Category: Beach Clean / Activity

Location: Georgeham Village Hall

Guided bee walk, bee identification and flower planting afternoon.

The Pickwell Foundation are teaming up with the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, Georgeham Primary School and Life on the Verge for a summer holiday afternoon of education and fun – all about bees.

We can help to bring rare bees back from the brink of extinction in North Devon by learning about their lives and supporting their habitats. We can even contribute to important conservation data collection, and learn about the things that are threatening their existence, including climate change and loss of wildflower meadows.

Meet at Georgeham Village Hall at 1.15pm to join us for a guided walk around Georgeham village, and the opportunity to learn more about Bee Identification with bumblebee expert Dr Cathy Horsley.
Following our slow-growing but successful flower patches in Georgeham and Croyde, we will then be offering a bit more variety to the already beautiful flowers in the front garden of the Old School House at Georgeham Primary School by planting plug plants there.

So bring your gardening gloves and a trowel if you have one, and let’s get growing at school!
(Equipment will also be provided if you don’t have your own.)

Refreshments will be provided at the village hall towards the end of the event.
