A traditional Victorian public park with play area, formal flower beds, and tennis courts. A working water mill here has adjoining tea rooms and a picnic area, and is open from Easter until October.
History
Formed from old waste ground in 1906, this public park has become dear to the hearts of the people of Ilfracombe for its formal Victorian style flower beds, water features and various events and attractions it has hosted over the years.
Celebrating its centenary in 2011, Bicclescombe Park once housed the Ilfracombe Tropical Wildlife Corner, the remnant of Ilfracombe Zoo. The old animal corner site is now occupied by the Sensory Garden, offering a delightful, enveloping environment for all, with particular emphasis on sound and light reflections to suit all levels of awareness.
Bicclescombe 18th century watermill is open as a visitor attraction, with one set of wheels in operation.
