The North Devon Coast AONB is defined by its Special Qualities. These are what make our AONB so special. There are 14 Special Qualities and for each of these we have chosen a place within the AONB where you can see what we mean.

Special Quality 8 –  A strong sense of tranquillity and remoteness where the coast road is located away from the coastline.

The remnant culm grasslands at Bursdon Moor are a rare and special wildlife resource. Despite their proximity to the busy A39 a main road into Cornwall you can get a strong sense of remoteness and tranquillity within this little oasis of moorland.
