St. Nectan’s well is housed in a medieval structure, but the well is of pre-conquest origin. The well is situated just metres from a road junction beside Welcombe’s charming parish church and has a stone gabled well head. The well is still an active feature of local community events, including traditional ‘well-dressing’ with flowers and other natural materials by local children.
The well and church are is key focal points on a circular walk taking in Welcombe Mouth and following the quiet wooded country lanes up and around Welcombe’s north and south valleys. It is also just a short distance from the village pub.
