Top 10 lesser known places to visit in the AONB (in no particular order) 

1. Mouthmill  –  Quiet, secluded and dramatic with other hidden gems nearby (prude.archduke.cling)
2. Bucks Mills Beach – A great day out for rook-pooling,  a tiny beach that only appears in the summer (hints.bulbs.overlooks)
3. Smoothlands Valley, Hartland Coast – Fascinating bit of geology an example of river capture, with stunning views of the Iron coast
4. Mortehoe – A lovely museum and pretty village where you can walk out to Morte Point and enjoy the view (pheasants.wiped.parks)
5. Broadstrand beach near Watermouth – secluded and a photographers dream in June, when looks like something out of the Caribbean. Very steep steps to get down there 
6. Braunton Burrows South – Remote, wilderness, with strange concrete structures which are evidence of WW2 training
7. Worthygate Woods – coast path between Bucks Mills and Peppercombe – fascinating ancient woodland great for bluebells in the spring 
8. Coast Path between Cockington Cliff & Portledge  – Cliff path walking, where you feel in touch with the sea 
9. Lee Bay – Beautiful beach for swimming and rockpooling at low tide. There is a stunning circular walk through the woods and along coast path in Spring (defaults.surprise.repay)
10. Hillsborough – A promontory Ironage hillfort. A site steeped in history since the dawn of time. Great views of Ilfracombe Harbour (splints.ruffle.swan)
